The year 2018 can be christened the ‘Year of M&As’, as M&A deal value sky rocketed to a whopping $80 billion recording a 126% jump on Y-o-Y basis. Interestingly, 63% of the total deal value is attributed to top 10 deals of the year of which the Flipkart and Walmart deal of $16 billion made to the top of the list.
All the top 9 deals following the Flipkart deal were part of the billion dollar deal value club. The performance of M&A value in Q1 and Q2 set the stage for the final figure achieved for the year. The surge in M&A deal value went on to fuel the stupendous PE Exit Value witnessed this year $15.09 billion, an increase of 21% from that of last year. M&A as an exit route was the highest contributor to exit value at $10.42 billion.
