Snapshot of deal activity in Private Equity, Venture Capital, Mergers & Acquisitions and Equity Capital Market deals in Q1 2024.
In Q1 2024, Private Equity deal activity experienced a 13.89% decline in volume, while deal value saw an 8.94% increase compared to Q1 2023. The rising interest rates led pension funds to shift towards private equity and infrastructure, which impacted overall deal dynamics. Smaller ticket sizes gained traction, reflected in the increased frequency of early-stage investments
The Mergers and Acquisitions landscape showed resilience, with a moderate decline of 8.41% in transaction volume but a 22% increase in value year-over-year. Notably, domestic deals contributed significantly, while IT led in volume and Industrials in value across sectors.
Meanwhile, Equity Capital Markets transactions saw a strong uptick in Q1 2024, with deal volume rising by 26.92% and deal value surging 7x from the previous year. This performance reflects the positive investor sentiment fueled by the central bank’s lower interest rate policy, with IPOs and QIPs particularly benefiting from the trend.
